John Kenney is an American storyteller from Oklahoma.

His stories of the simple life, the cowboy way and living on the land, are spoken over originally composed country music. Kenney considers his unique style of spoken word as his own memoir, but rather than turning pages in a book, he’s created songs that transport his listeners back to the country and a relaxed way of life.

On his latest release, My Top Advice, Kenney shares some of his life’s wisdom with cleverness and spirit. The storytelling approach over the music is a refreshing twist on traditional song, as it brings the the words pleasantly to the forefront. The songs go from talking about life’s journey to things he’s learned along the way. Kenney closes the album with his rendition of The Star Spangled Banner with multiple verses that were originally written by Francis Scott Key, but rarely known to most Americans.
